"A Man with a Mission  To Green Gotham" I have a passion for environmental quality and, like all parents, feel protective of my children and their future. I see my parental responsibility in a global sense and want my generation's legacy to be something much finer than global warming, deforestation, extinction of species, food and water shortages, and all the other terrifying effects of environmental neglect. Out of this passion I founded "The Cotocon Group". The Cotocon Group provides LEED Certification Services in certifying your buildings with the United States Green Building Council (USGBC). The Cotocon Group is an interdisciplinary team of professionals who have dedicated their careers to environmental construction and the reduction of unnecessary waste of our natural resources. The group, which contains almost two dozen LEED APs, has also been responsible for training numerous new LEED APs in New York. Although many firms believe in environmental quality, very few have been as dedicated to outreach as Cotocon. CO – TO – CON, meaning “Cooperation to Conservation” was created as an umbrella group to attract the best practitioners in different areas of endeavor. The Cotocon Group’s professionals bring together a vast network of contacts they have developed throughout their long individual careers. Perhaps Cotocon’s greatest strength is the ability to persuade owners and managers of large real estate assets to address environmental concerns in their building and to address them NOW. Some consultants have waited for the public to recognize the importance of green, but Cotocon proactively reaches out to their contacts and clients. In 2009 alone, Cotocon has performed energy audits, green upgrades, and LEED certifications for dozens of buildings. Many Engineering/Architecture/Consulting Firms work with clients who understand the value of environmentalism. Cotocon’s strength is in reaching out to decision-makers who may be reluctant to commit to environmental stewardship because they do not understand the technology, are concerned about excessive costs, or have not been persuaded of the value of these efforts. The Cotocon Group has been working closely with the Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) and NYS Energy Research Development Authority (NYSERDA) to make private owners and managers as well as municipalities aware of incentive programs that can make environmental improvements feasible. Our specialties include mechanical designs for both tenant fit-out spaces and base building new construction, integrating energy efficient mechanical systems to program requirements, economic evaluation, implementing peak –load reduction strategies, and commissioning. We have a proven record of accomplishment in performing feasibility studies and subsequent design and installation of on-site renewable energy systems. Throughout the past 25 years, we have introduced energy conservation measures in diverse projects from new office/residential/hotel construction to sophisticated waste management facilities. Our present objective is to continue with LEED certification of the many registered projects we have underway. In fact, we have recently been recognized for our accomplishment one day this spring, in which The Cotocon Group actually registered 5 buildings in one day for LEED certification!
