More about Natasha Enquist: As a second generation Canadian, Natasha Enquist was surrounded by an influential upbringing of German, Russian, Ukrainian, and Polish relatives. The folk music of these cultures had made an impression on Miss Enquist, and the mighty Accordion has stayed true to her heart. Natasha Enquist (performance artist, accordionist, singer, actor, model), has a background in classical piano, which she learned as a child with the Canadian Conservatory of Music. Since her childhood education, Natasha has had private voice, music comprehension, and dance lessons as well as private accordion lessons with Irv Lang, Mario Pedone and Andy Mirkovich. Natasha credits her musical background to growing up within a European family, her Mother who played piano and accordion, and being exposed to a variety of different musical and cultural genres such as ABBA, Kraftwerk, Depeche Mode, David Bowie, “The Lawrence Welk Show”, and “Monty Python”. Natasha has had the privilege of playing with artists such as Pablo Diemecke, Daniel Lapp, Treena Stubel, The Great Giffoni, Hank Pine, MeatDraw, Sam Davidson (Brasstronauts), Colin Cowan (Analog Bell Service), Ali Siadat (Mother Mother), and Bobby Siadat (You Say Party and Gang Violence) and has shared the stage with Geoff Berner, The Tom Fun Orchestra, The Hidden Cameras, Gentleman Reg, The Racoons, Champion & His G-Strings, Amy Denio, The Creaking Planks, The Pine Family, Carolyn Mark, David P. Smith and performed at the TD Vancouver International Jazz Festival, the Accordion Noir Radio's Accordion Festival, The Victoria Ska Festival, and the Victoria Fringe Festival. Along with her musical performances, Natasha has taken her accordion and acting skills to the theatre stage and worked with theatre companies such as: Atomic Vaudeville, Theatre SKAM, Fifth & Rose, SNAFU Dance Theatre, and A Random Selection of Chairs, and performs in the comedy duo Smitten Kitten Elvis Pants. Natasha's solo performances include a mix of Russian, French, German and North American love songs, and she enjoys singing in both English, Russian, German, Croatian, and Serbian. She also managed, lead and co-created the monster band: Bu?an Bu?an (Eastern European Gypsy), performed in The Caution Party (Electronic/Dance), Les Fleurs Brisées (World), The Story Dolls (Cabaret). On top of all that, Natasha also has a background in modeling and fashion design, and has the fashion line “Squeeze Me – Accordion Chic Apparel”.
