Aaron is currently a freelance social media strategist and recent graduate of NYU's Interactive Telecommunications Program (ITP), where he studied interaction design. Previously, Aaron served as the global lead for Text 100 Public Relations' social media practice, directing both the internal and external strategic development of the company's work in this area. Aaron worked with many of the world's largest brands to create successful online community engagement strategies across platforms ranging from blogs to virtual worlds and everything in between. His expertise in social media communications earned him the role of trusted adviser to clients worldwide, including Cisco, MTV, Raytheon, Lenovo, Philips and others. He continues to consult on social media topics such as policy creation, best practices, strategy development, Twitter for business, blogger relations and online community building. As a leader in the application of virtual worlds for communications, he facilitated the MacArthur Foundation's launch of its digital learning initiative simultaneously in real life and Second Life. Additional virtual world work includes Manpower, IBM and Xerox. Aaron was named the 2007 Young PR Professional of the Year by PRWeek as well as one of the industry's "Top 10 Rising Stars." In addition, his work garnered Text 100 the "Innovation of the Year" award for its virtual world experience and industry honors from the Holmes Report as the 2007 "New Media Agency of the Year." He received the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) “recommended speaker” designation in 2008 and is the co-founder of Social Media Breakfast NYC, a monthly gathering of the corporate social media community in New York.
