He received further training at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. Dr. Alan Porter has nearly four decades of experience in the field of radiation oncology and continually incorporates new technological advances into his practice. Cancer treatments at Porter Radiation Oncology centers include IMRT external beam therapy, -D Conformal Therapy, and tomotherapy, which utilizes computed tomography (CT) scan technology. The centers also offer therapeutic nuclear medicine, specialized radiation therapy for prostate and gynecological cancers, treatment for malignant eye melanomas, and high dose rate brachytherapy, a highly specialized treatment performed in collaboration with Sarasota Memorial Hospital.
