Andy P. Browne was a Web Design Interactive Media student at The Art Institute of New York City, exploring his native talents and creativity. This pursuit is a radical change from the seven years he spent serving the country as an Infantry Officer in the United States Army, reaching the rank of Captain. Artistic since his earliest childhood, Andy took advance placement classes in painting and drawing in high school. He attended Tulane University on an ROTC scholarship, earning a degree in Business Management. After graduation, he began active duty, and was sent to Ft. Benning, Georgia for Officers training. Over the years, he was assigned to Korea, California, Tennessee, finally serving two tours in Iraq. Andy is very positive about his time in the Army. The service gave me positions of great responsibility, with tremendous opportunity. Just when I got comfortable in a position, I was promoted and asked to take on an even harder job. He further states, You can prepare yourself for a creative career based on your military background youll have advantages over your peers because of the discipline you learn. You never can say no that cant be done. You never quit. Andy chose The Art Institute of New York City because it provides really strong technical skills that he feels will prepare him for a creative career. His program, Web Design Interactive Media, incorporates Graphic Design. He knew he wanted to study fundamentals of design, not fine art. All my instructors are very impressive because theyre professionals and work in the field, he says. Andy plans to continue his education to earn a MFA, then write my own job description and create a career. Spoken like an ex-military man, imbued with confidence and faith in his abilities. - Midge Elias, November , Director of Public Relations, The Art Institute of New York City Specialties Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Dreamweaver, XHTML, CSS, Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Access, Outlook...read more ...read less ...
