I have been using Linux since 1995, and started working as a systems administrator in 1997. I prefer to work with open source software, including Apache and Lighttpd, MySQL, Subversion, Exim, and Dovecot. I have also worked with Solaris, AIX, and QNX in the past, but find GNU/Linux systems provide the most pleasant and productive working environment. On the networking side, I've done routing and load balancing with Cisco, Enterasys, and Alteon hardware using HSRP and VRRP. I've also designed high-availability, load-balanced solutions using Linux Virtual Server and related tools such as heartbeat and ldirectord. In 1999, I added web developer to my title, and have written a lot of PHP and SQL since, mostly for content management. I have also done a fair amount of JavaScript, and am particularly fond of jQuery. I have also continued to wear my sysadmin hat, building development and deployment systems, and web-based tools to manage systems. In 2007, I began doing development on the Force.com (Salesforce.com) platform. Starting in 2009, I led the development of CRC's CRM, used by about 400 employees in marketing and intake roles. Most recently, I have been using open source tools, Palo OLAP Server and Pentaho Kettle ETL tool, to combine and analyze data culled from Salesforce, Google AdWords, and web logs. Other current interests include node.js, R, and git/github. In 2006, I returned to school part-time to study economics, and completed my BA in 2009.
