I have been fascinated by the challenge of aligning powerful technologies with user needs since I encountered my first customers while creating automated chip design software. I have continually taken on this problem ever since in a variety of roles technology visionary, development leader, and product manager. While the answers vary from product to product and industry to industry, they always involve careful alignment of customer listening, responsive design and development, and effective communication. Throughout my career I have had the opportunity to work on uniquely difficult and interesting problems of all sorts. Before my current venture I served as Dells CTO of performance monitoring and virtualization and cloud management where I led the creation of simple, highly usable tools for managing large and complex datacenters.
