Most of my work involves contacting local, national and even international news organizations with timely, newsworthy information about what my clients do. I broke in as a print journalist, writing and editing, over a 10-year span, for United Press International (its Newark, N.J., and New York bureaus); The New York Daily News; and The Cincinnati Enquirer. Then I spent almost four years as an in-house publicist at the corporate office of Federated Department Stores, Inc. (Macy's Inc.), based in Cincinnati. In 1993, I formed my own publicity and writing company. In January, 2010, in partnership with Communica, a Toledo, Ohio-based advertising agency,I formed Becker/CMCA. We now assist Chinese companies successfully promote their products and services in North America through B-2-B marketing communications programs. Clients benefit from our location in the Midwest and the fact that we know local markets. My facility in speaking Mandarin and my cultural sensitivities have created valued relationships.
