Greg Kahn (b. ) grew up in a small, blue-collar town along the coast in Rhode Island, home to beach bums and fishermen alike. Greg turned to photography in high school after winning a scholarship that sent him to shoot for a week under a team of National Geographic photographers. Greg jokes that he one-upped his father and older brother, both physicists, by becoming a photojournalist. Greg attended The George Washington University, where he played soccer for the Colonials and majored in visual communications, all the while volunteering for photo editors at National Geographic. Shortly after college, Greg started his newspaper photo career, first at The Concord-Kannapolis Independent Tribune, outside of Charlotte, North Carolina, then at the Naples Daily News, in Florida. In Naples, Greg was a Pulitzer Prize finalist () and NPPA Photojournalist of the Year (Smaller Markets ) for his work covering the foreclosure crisis in Southwest Florida. His work has also been published in The New York Times, Polaris, Gulf Shore Life Magazine, USA Today, Forbes Magazine, Gente Di Fotografia, STERN magazine, Wall Street Journal, and World Vision Magazine. In , Greg, and two close friends and colleagues left the comforts of their newspaper to form a photographic collective, GRAIN. Greg now lives in Washington, D.C., with his fiance and fellow GRAIN member, Lexey Swall, where he works on long-term documentary projects.
