The impact of technology on writing, learning and teaching is a major interest of mine.A member of the faculty at a public university for more than 20 years, I mainly teach composition, research, rhetoric, and business communications. Other subjects I've taught include introductory linguistics, technical writing, and college reading and study strategies. Recently, I helped develop and teach a first-year experience course that aims to make students more skeptical consumers of the arguments they encounter online, on TV, and in print.I frequently teach online, and also manage a computer-equipped classroom.  Computer programming and web design are among my hobbies. I am the webmaster/ chief editor of the website of the Lecturers' Employee Organization (LEO), AFT Michigan 6244 -- a union local that I helped to organize in 2002-03 and that represents 1400 faculty members.At Life After Carbs, I blog about my experiences following a healthy, low-carbohydrate way of eating.  read more ...
