Jessica holds a B.S. from Eastern Michigan University in music and business and is a candidate for a M. S. from DePaul University in Public Service Management. At DePaul her research focuses on community art, public art, youth development, interdisciplinary contexts of art in community development and social change. She is currently working on her thesis on community-based art projects and their influence on civic participation and learning how to utilize geographical information systems in the fields of art and community development. She has held positions at DePaul University, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Rush Hour Concerts and Eastern Michigan University. In addition, she has nearly 10 years of teaching experience holding a private violin studio, curriculum development and teaching with Leading Community Change at the Chaddick Institute for Metropolitan Development, teaching assistant at DePaul University and assisting in K-12 music classes. Jessica grew up in SE Michigan and currently resides in Chicago, IL and has a slight obsession with Rust Belt cities, especially Detroit.
