Johnson Johnson

Male, 30 years old

I have been doddering around computers since before I was 12-years-old. My first "real" job was as a canoeing instructor at a scout camp. I spent my money on Fender Telecaster and a driving class to keep my insurance down. I have worked primarily in web development, starting with PHP/Apache development and migrating over the years through various application environments toward Django and, most recently, Perl/PSGI stacks. I have built and worked on simple custom CMS'es,Django server glue for mobile applications, multi-user browser applications for high-volume customer support, marketing micro-sites, and Drupal and WordPress-based publishing systems. In my current position I use Perl to fix and build infrastructure for HostGator.com, working with telephony, customizing package management systems, building customer support technology for a company of our size, and loads of other things covered under my NDA. My short-term goals are to study concurrency and distributed computing for use in solving data-bound problems. My long-term goals are to use my skills to help advance scientific research, and to be more involved with the cooperative movement. Specialties My specialty is coming up with good designs before I start working, kind of like the competition scene in "Sweeney Todd." As for technical specialties, I have worked extensively with Python and Perl, and am familiar with Django, GEvent, AnyEvent, PSGI/Plack, and non-relational databases. I actually enjoyed my theory classes, if that tells you anything; I try not to be too pedantic but I don't know how to feel about programmers who claim they "rarely use that stuff." read more ...
