A globally known expert in public relations and marketing services, I am passionate about the convergence of technology, the web, and communications. As Chairman and CEO of Racepoint Global, an advanced marketing services agency, I am honored to be a part of the talented team that is charting the future of marketing. Just as the historic lighthouse for which we are named has provided light to boats navigating the chaotic waters off the coast of Massachusetts for nearly two centuries, Racepoint Global is a force for clarity and simplicity in a complex and rapidly changing marketing environment. I also serve as Chairman of the Board of the Massachusetts Innovation and Technology Exchange (MITX), the world's largest Internet marketing association. My marketing career began soon after the personal computer was invented and myriad computing and technology start-ups were emerging. Marketing was challenging for these companies because their products were too novel and complex to be explained by advertising, the primary tool in marketers toolkit at the time. Having taught English literature, I could see how storytelling could be a natural solution to the challenge of marketing technology companies. By educating the public about products that were difcult to grasp, I was convinced that a robust market could be built for emerging technologies like personal computers, software, and the World Wide Web. Together with entrepreneurs from Lotus, Digital Equipment Corporation, Wang Laboratories, and Cullinet, we built the field of technology public relations. The marketing services company that I founded in those early days also grew today Weber Shandwick is one of the largest marketing services companies in the world. I have authored five books on marketing technology and leadership. My latest book, The Digital Marketer Ten New Skills You Must Learn to Stay Relevant and Customer-Centric, was released in April .
