Max Gutmann, age 81, is currently retired. Mr. Gutmann served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Elder-Beerman Stores Corporation, a regional department and specialty store chain, during the period from 1974 through 1991, and from 1995 through 1998. He was retired during the period from 1991 through 1995. Mr. Gutmann was also Executive Vice President and subsequently President of Elder-Beerman from 1961 through 1973.
