After college I joined the US Navy and spent years in the Submarine Service. Afterwards, I used my GI Bill benefits to work as an apprentice electrician from until I journeyed out in with an Oregon JLE license (Journeyman Limited Energy Electrician). I also hold a Washington ME license (Master Electrician) and NICET Level IV certificate in Fire Alarm Systems (SET). I worked in the field until when I began teaching apprentice electricians in the Oregon Electrical Apprenticeship program. I started writing fire protection handbooks at about the same time, including - Fire Alarm Systems - Sprinkler System Layout - Special Hazards Suppression Systems - Inspection and Testing of Water-based Suppression Systems In I started teaching fire code seminars for AFAA and then in I went to work for Mircom providing product training to their Engineered Systems Distributors. I very much enjoy the opportunity that all of the traveling and training has afforded me. I meet designers, electricians, engineers, architects, sales rep's, inspectors, plans examiners, building officials, fire marshals, and contractors all over the world to discover how they deal with the same sorts of problems that I encountered as an electrician in the field. I plan to continue traveling and training until I drop dead in an airport somewhere. Specialties Technical training, technical writing, building and fire code compliance, and troubleshooting. read more ...
