Miles is an expert in physical and information security with a focus on K School Security as well as general commercial and residential risk mitigation. He is a Master Electrician in the District of Columbia and NICET certified electronic fire systems expert. In he founded Urban Alarm where he is committed to community based security in the Washington DC metro area. Prior to Urban Alarm Miles founded iapps in creating an organization that uses Internet technology to effect social change. His leadership has guided iapps to work with over half of the top twenty foundations in the US and win close to a hundred awards for design, business, and workplace innovation. In iapps merged with Bridgeline Digital where Miles took a leadership role in technology and operations as an Executive Vice-President and Chair of the Technology Committee. Miles worked with the executive team to successfully take Bridgeline Software public on the NASDAQ stock exchange in . An active painter, photographer and documentary filmmaker, he has produced a number of films, including one on a unique subculture of retirees who travel the United States in Airstream Travel Trailers. His art has been featured in many venues including the Corcoran Gallery of Art and private exhibitions in Washington DC. Miles graduated from the Park School of Communications at Ithaca College. He has served on the faculty of American University Graduate School of Communications, and the jury of Computerworld Smithsonian Honors Program.
