Although it is often said that people are born leaders, that doesn't mean that it cannot be polished and perfected. Beginning with my involvement in Boy Scouts as a kid, I immediately took every opportunity I could to become the best leader that I could be. After holding countless positions in the troop, I put was able to put everything I had learned into my final Eagle Scout project. While planning and executing the project, I was only allowed to direct and supervise others from the sidelines. Through this process, I was able to fully develop my abilities in task management, problem solving, and motivating others. While furthering my leadership as a captain of both my high school lacrosse and football teams, I became involved in a variety of other ways. While taking the most rigorous courses available, I was able to uncover my true passion in economics. Through AP Macro and Micro Economics, I became involved in the investment club at my school, where I learned that being meticulous with your investments is the only way to succeed, a lesson I have applied to all areas of my life. As a freshman member of the Hutton Honors College at Indiana University, I have continued to take the most rigorous courses available. Thus far in my Honors courses, I have been involved in a competition to design and deliver a fully functional database from scratch for the Boys and Girls Club in town. Through this process, I have developed skills in Microsoft Excel and Access. As I continue my academic career I will hunt for further opportunities to broaden my intellectual horizons. As an Undergraduate student at the Kelley School of Business, I will explore majors in Economic Consulting and Finance, where the skills that I have developed in the past will translate directly into the world of financial institutions and investment banking, where I ultimately hope to enjoy a successful career.
