I've had a camera for a few years. It was the sort of thing I'd bring on vacation, to events, and to parties. Occasionally, I'd even get a good picture. But the majority were snapshots: unplanned, and based on luck. Recently, I talked with a photographer who had worked for a decade in the pre-digital age. The conversation revealed just how inexperienced I was, and how little I knew. Therefore, I've had a camera for years, but I've been studying photography for two years. I took a semester of b&w photography in high school. I don't know how much of that knowledge remains, but hopefully I've retained something.
