Shannon and Shauna are identical Carrier Déné First Nations twins of the Stellat'en First Nation reservation in northern British Columbia. They currently reside in Vancouver, British Columbia. They are actors, models, and spokespeople and have been on a variety of television shows, films, commercials and videos.The Baker Twins have made celebrity guest appearances on shows such as 'The Tyra Banks Show' and the popular television show Smallville'. They recently landed leading roles on the pilot Tales of an Urban Indian and roles in the movie Trail of Tears. Some of their acting experience also includes films such as: Tin Man', Sharp as Marbles', Estelle, Where You From NDN, Dreamcatcher, Seeds, Xylophobia', Hard Impact', Rookies, Heartless, A Wedding Story', Hard Way to Grow Up', Night of Removal', Time after Place', Family Portraits', History Lesson' and Magical History Tour'. The twins were featured on APTNs: Venturing Forth, First Talk, Nation News Prime Time and Creative Native'. They have also been featured on well known shows such as Global Televisions 'ET Canada, City TVs 'Fashion File, CTV's First Story, and Shaw TVs Urban Rush. The Baker Twins are in a few commercials including Tim Hortons, Discover Card and the Olympics. The twins have graced various runway shows across Canada and the US. The Baker Twins are quickly becoming a sought after duo for their hosting, keynote speaking, inspirational speaking, workshop facilitating and award presenting abilities. The twins do not lecture to youth; instead they share their experiences about how they never gave up on their dream of becoming models and actors despite growing up on a reservation.Before the start of Shannons entertainment career she had educational and hands-on experience in Business Management. While going to school she held a variety of management positions such as a Project Manager and Research Assistant at Simon Fraser University in order to finance her education. Shannon ended up by competing in the Miss Universe® Canada 2007 pageant where she was the winner of the Revlon® Award.Shauna was also extensively involved in business before her entertainment career began. After high school she worked at a popular clothing store and was quickly promoted to manager after being the number one seller across North America. She held various management positions at various companies. Yet, despite her success in her career she instinctively knew that she was not following her dreams. Shauna currently hosts a television show called City Lights which airs on Novus Television.Shannon and Shauna's introduction to modeling occurred while they were shopping and were approached by a modeling scout. They knew about scams in the modeling industry and did not take the first offer. Soon after these encounters they began managing their own modeling careers. The twins have been featured in print, editorials, advertisements and several runway shows. To name a few magazines: UMM Magazine, Vancouver Magazine, SAY Magazine, Campus Life Magazine, String Magazine, Red Honey Magazine, V List Magazine, Canadian Living Magazine, RezX Magazine, WWS Magazine, unfiltered Magazine, and Thick Magazine. The twins are currently national spokespeople for SAY Magazine.Not only do the twins manage their own modeling careers but they currently have their own sixteen month calendar called the BT Girls: Native American Womens Calendar (www.thebtgirls.com) and own a website design company called Baker Twin Designs. The twins are currently working on a BT Guy: Native Mens Calendar (www.thebtguys.com).In the tradition of the Carrier Déné people, an elder from Shannon and Shauna's reservation put warm bee hive into the palms of their hands when they were babies so that they could have strong artistic abilities. Perhaps this is the reason that they are drawn to the arts. Throughout the years Shannon and Shauna have expressed themselves through various ways whether it was through acting, music, dance and writing.As long as they could remember they were always performing. Whether it was at the age of three singing Im a little tea pot while dancing in front of a wedding reception or at the age of sixteen competing in classical music competitions. The twins love for performing took on various forms while growing up. They engaged in school choirs, plays and the school band. Music has always played a part in their lives whether they were competing, creating or listening to it.
