Biography Ted Curran Ted Curran is a renaissance geek. Keenly interested in education, technology, arts, communication, and language, Ted continually experiments with ways to integrate these passions towards the ultimate goal of empowering people. Ted is currently an Instructional Designer for Samuel Merritt University where he administers the Canvas learning management system and related digital learning tools, trains faculty and students, and consults with faculty to optimize course designs. Ted is serving his third term as chair of the university's Technology Committee and actively participates in the Voltron Commission-- a university consortium for addressing high profile challenges in an interdisciplinary team. Ted is also collaborating with a team of University of California students, faculty, staff, and administrators to produce the Picture Yourself in College app after his team won the Learning Mode College Ready Hackathon in . In his spare time, he designs Wordpress websites and graphic art for local artists and nonprofits in Oakland under his alter ego, a href"httptrueschool.me"TrueSchool Creativea. Ted worked as a charter high school teacher for six years, teaching Advanced Digital Media Arts, English Language Arts, and Social Science. That experience was formative in many ways, including a strong emphasis on project-based learning, outcomes-based assessment, and developing respectful relationships among a diverse student population. Previously, Ted was a story researcher and video editor for Paramount Domestic Television, MCA Records, and others before he had the good sense to leave Hollywood and start doing some good in the world.
