I love digital technology! It is the perfect artist medium. I began my life with an interest in art. I love all forms of art, including; drawing, carving, painting, and, most recently, digital photography and graphic design...One of the highlights of my life was attending a massive showing of Claude Monet's paintings in Chicago. The beauty of that particular artist's work made a huge impression on me (no pun intended). The show started with paintings from early in Monet's career and spaned his entire life. Monet painted "en plein air" as an 18-year-old budding artist. He finally stopped painting in his late 80's when his eyesight was failing and his age finally became burdensome. The man did what he loved all his life and gave the world something of beauty. I remember thinking how courageous he must have been to make art his life's pursuit. Monet was mocked by the public and kept out of the mainstream art world. He ignored the noise around him and boldly painted the things that he found interesting. I developed a passion for photography a couple years ago while attending a photojournalism class at Michigan State University. I picked up the camera and discovered my future. I still see myself as an artist rather than a photographer. I believe through digital technology the photographer becomes the artist and the artist becomes the photographer. I work en plein air. I capture impressions of the events around me. I create art digitally with the tools available. Sometimes my art is controversial, sometimes it just connects. I am motivated by the courage of the artists who went before me. In the end I can say (at least in the later part of my life) I fully pursued my vision. I became Monet. read more ...
