Todd Austin Hunt was born in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee and raised in Central Kentucky. At the age of , free from the restrictive canon of Catholic School, he read Misery by Stephen King. This reading opened up a new threshold of wonder and purpose. He earned his B.A. from University of Kentucky and M.A. from Eastern Kentucky University. His thesis was a collection of short stories entitled What the Chickens Play Before Sunday. Publishing speculative stories since , Hunt won an Honorable Mention in the Annual Ray Bradbury Writing Contest and was nominated for the Pushcart Prize in .
