My professional and academic experience as a software engineer has taught me two lessons that no individual who works with hardware or software should ever be without. It doesn't matter how much mastery one gains in a given language, concept, or hardware component. First, if the Computer Scientist can't pass on his or her knowledge to those who need to learn it, then the workplace will suffer (what good is an expert on any subject if his or her co-workers can't ask for help and come away with knowledge?). Second, a successful Computer Scientist must be able to move at the speed of the industry. Mastery is only useful until a new tool, language, or program is needed for the job, or supplants the one that has been mastered. The best Computer Scientist not only has a wide repertoire of skills, but is prepared to widen that repertoire at any time; essentially, he or she never ceases being a student. My goal, most succinctly put, is to find a company that will challenge me with projects that enable me to utilize to my skillset, while also challenging me to widen my own repertoire in an environment where asking questions and seeking help is encouraged by those who are more experienced. Specialties Languages: Java, C#, SQL, XML, PHP, JSP, HTML, bash, batch IDEs: I prefer Eclipse, however, I possess proficiency with Visual Studio and the choice between them is usually won by the product being developed. OSs: Windows XP/Vista/7 and most flavors of Linux(I prefer Windows 7 and either RHEL or Ubuntu). Personal areas of expertise include Database Architecture, Network Applications, Computer Graphics Theory, and Back-End Webapps. Recently, I've made Google's Android OS a personal project.
