My interests lie in learning more about how people interact with their world (and more specifically, with technology) -- how do we use interfaces to interact with objects and make life easier? And more importantly, how can we improve these experiences? I graduated from UCSD as a Cognitive Science student, specializing in Human-Computer Interaction. I have a strong understanding for both the design and technical sides of interaction. I do a lot of my own web projects, either to solve problems that I have (e.g. reducing the number of steps to accomplish a task) or purely out of interest in learning more. I'm currently interning as a Human Factors Engineer at Cubic Defense Applications. My manager and I are introducing user experience research and design to a company long-dominated by strict engineering. Previously, I interned as an Interaction Designer at Hewlett-Packard in San Diego. My primary work dealt with designing interaction with printers via touchscreen interfaces. Specialties • User-centered design, including user research (e.g. contextual interviews, usability analyses), persona and scenario creation, interaction design, prototyping, and more • Web design and prototyping using HTML, Javascript (including jQuery), CSS, and PHP • Experience with Flash/Actionscript 3.0, Java, and MySQL databases
