I began writing when I was years old when I built my own NASCAR-niche website from the ground up. It served as my first attempt at reporting. From there, my interest grew in reporting and led me to join my high school's newspaperyearbook class. As I turned , I began contributing as a correspondent to my hometown's newspaper, mostly sports photographs with the occasional article as well. Then, at the age of and two months before officially graduating from high school, I accepted the sports editor position at the Centerville Daily Iowegian (March ) and I have been with the newspaper ever since. The Iowegian is a five-day daily newspaper in southeast Iowa that publishes a print product covering . counties with just three full-time editorial staff members, and just nine other staff members in the office. This means that while my official title is "Sports Editor," that title alone does not adequately explain to people what I do during the day. On any given day (or night) I will manage the newspaper's social media and website, moderate the comments on the newspaper's website, cover breaking news stories, write feature stories for our niche publications, repair office computers and servers, write PHP code to fuel the latest dynamic database andor work on a live video streaming production.
