Inspired by his own experience as a patient for years recovering from a traumatic childhood accident, Paul Clark founded SmartPatient to apply mobile technology to improve the patient experience and strengthen patient-provider relationships. Prior to SmartPatient, Paul served as Vice President of Research Education at The Health Management Academy leading a survey benchmarking research agenda and educational development for C-Suite executives of Americas leading health systems. Previously, Paul originated the position and development of patient satisfaction improvement solutions as Director of Knowledge Management at Press Ganey Associates, where he led a team of researchers conducting quantitative and qualitative research to determine best practices for improving health care quality. He also managed the Internet presence for the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists and the launch of two leading peer-reviewed scientific journals. Pauls extensive patient experience research includes two books, two book chapters, over a dozen peer-reviewed original research articles and hundreds of conferences. Paul serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Hospital Administration. Paul earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Pittsburgh, a Master of Public Administration in Science and Technology Policy from George Mason University, a Master of Arts in Bioethics and Healthcare Policy from the Loyola University Chicago, and a Masters of Healthcare Administration from the University of North Carolina. He is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives.
