After trying different styles of martial arts Sharon was introduced to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu by some friends to compliment her Judo training. She is only the 13th American woman to be awarded her black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu on March 1, 2008 (there are less than 50 in the US). Sharon has over 16 years of Martial Arts experience. During this journey she realized most women were not interested in learning a martial art for self-defense. Sharon researched and found the perfect solution to compliment her training as a self-defense instructor as well as provide women with an effective and realistic program to defend themselves. Sharon is a certified Women's Self Defense instructor (Defend University) and certified Kettlebell Instructor under the MaxBell system (Steve Maxwell). Sharon lives and teaches Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) and Women’s Self Defense in Philadelphia and the suburbs of Philadelphia. She has been hosted by many organizations,colleges, high-school and h.s. programs, gyms and Martial Arts Academies in the Tri-State area and Canada to share her knowledge with women and men. Sharon has and continues to also volunteered her time and knowledge to give back to women and the community so she can reach as many women as possible. Sharon’s love, dedication and enthusiasm is evident in her teaching and training. Specialties Women's Self Defense, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, Kettlebells and Personal Training. Advanced Level Instructor certified by Defend University (Fight Like A Girl, Girls on Guard and Defense against Weapons). Master Kettlebell Certification under the Maxbell System working directly with Steve Maxwell since 2001 and also has her Body-Weight Certification from Steve Maxwell.
