Brittney Shepherd is a San Francisco based independent filmmaker and transmedia producer who brings energy, order, and enthusiasm to every project she is a part of. She holds a B.A. in Ethic Studies from the UC Berkeley. Currently, she is the Co-Producer of the ITVS funded documentary A Fragile Trust which tells the story of the Jayson Blair New York Times plagiarism scandal and a Co-Creator of the ITVS funded alternate reality news game, Decisions on Deadline where players act as journalists reporting on a fictional breaking news story. Brittney is the Co-Producer of Out Run (Dir Johnny Symons and S. Leo Chiang), the new feature documentary about a gay Kenyan activist and a transgender Filipina pioneer campaigning to become the first openly LGBT elected officials in their respective countries. She is also the Co-Producer of the Out Run Hub a transmedia project that uses interactive and innovative technologies to share compelling stories of current and future LGBT politicians worldwide. Brittney was the Associate Producer of the Emmy nominated film, A Village Called Versailles about the New Orleans East Vietnamese American communitys efforts to return and rebuild following Hurricane Katrina (Dir. S. Leo Chiang, Independent Lens ) and Mr. Cao Goes to Washington (PBS Broadcast Full Frame premiere ) that profiles the first Vietnamese-American Republican Congressman elected in historically African-American Democratic district of New Orleans. As the Staff Producer of GroundSpark, she produced many award-winning films alongside Academy-Award winning director Debra Chasnoff, including Celebrating the Life of Del Martin () honoring civil rights pioneer, Del Martin, and StraightlacedHow Genders Got Us All Tied Up () about the pressures on teenagers to conform to rigid gender roles. Brittney was integral in developing the award-winning curriculum for Straightlaced and also served as the GroundSpark's Communications Coordinator for two years.
