I have had the privilege to work with organizations that use technology to cut costs, increase efficiencies, develop new business opportunities, and remain competitive. I am a strong proponent of using technology and innovation as a differentiating factor to increase revenue and effectiveness. I believe todays technology advancements will allow greater flexibility in all areas of an operation. Technology should be applied appropriately and always in keeping with the business values and goals of an organization. When technology is leveraged to assist in making critical business decisions, organizations thrive and grow. Technology, therefore, should be considered a cornerstone of increasing the effectiveness and competitiveness of its profit centers. While working in the public sector I have always brought a private sector perspective to the table. The public and private sectors are inherently different and that must be recognized in order to bring success to either sector. The private sector is charged with making a profit and creating products or services that are in demand while the public sector's charge is to care for the citizens and bring to bear services and products that are in the interest of the public good. If a private corporation had to build roads to distant places or provide services to those with no money it would quickly find itself out of business. While the two sectors are vastly different there are lessons to be learned from each and I have made it a goal of mine to learn those lessons and apply them in my daily career.
