Ric Schaefer is the Director for Arrowhead Health Alliance (AHA) a multi-county Health and Human Services Agency. Ric joined AHA in the fall of 2007 as its business model was still being developed. As Director for AHA Ric is responsible for the ongoing development of AHA’s unique business structure which focuses on leveraging the strengths of 4 rural counties in northern Minnesota. Some of AHA’s current programs include partnering with local Managed Care Organizations on specific health and human services initiatives and the development of a 4 county Universal Home Visiting Program. Ric holds a bachelor’s degree in Health Services Administration and prior to his current position held administrative positions for a regional case management company and a national long term care organization. Ric grew up on a farm in rural South Dakota. The values and work ethic instilled within him on those rural prairies have served him and those he works for well. Or as his wife is fond of saying, you can take the boy out of the farm, but you can’t take the farm out of the boy. Ric enjoys spending time with his family and escaping away to one of many hobbies too numerous to mention. Specialties Arrowhead Health Alliance represents the Minnesota counties of Carlton, Cook, Lake and Koochiching. The four counties have joined together to create a health care services alliance to provide integrated public health care and human services that are efficient, accessible, and affordable.
