I'm a writer, a problem solver and a storyteller. I also believe that the most successful writing comes from experience. As such, I've made it my life's mission to build a wide and varied bank of experiences and interests from which to draw inspiration. I studied journalism and education as an undergraduate at Ball State University, which meant that I got to dabble in a veritable smorgasbord of disciplines writing, editing, photography, film and sound editing, graphic design, marketing, psychology, sociology and teaching practice. I was president of the collegiate Journalism Education Association, hosted a pop culture radio show, sang in a women's barbershop quartet, and wrote a column for the Ball State Daily News. Following graduation, I moved to London to satisfy my hankering for travel and ended up staying for nearly six years. During my stint in Britain, I travelled extensively in Europe and Northern Africa, and learned a little French, Italian and Greek along the way. I also earned my MA in screenwriting from the University of Westminster, spent many an evening DJing in Shoreditch, and worked in various roles in Higher Education admissions. Most recently, I was Admissions Enrollment Supervisor at The Courtauld Institute of Art, a small university specializing in art history, curating and painting conservation. I became a British citizen, returned to the U.S. and married my English lovecat husband, Max, after spending nearly a year drowning in Green Card paperwork. (As a result, I have become something of an expert in US and UK immigration.) I currently live in Wrigleyville and am probably at the cinema.
