If it's true that the music industry is made for survivors than 22-year-old singer/songwriter Daniel Gray is a prime contender. In November of 2008 Daniel began working on a new Pop/Dance album with platinum producer, Mark Berry and Universal Records/DEP Company, Attack Music Group. Much of Daniels album was written after Daniel and his families experience with hurricane Katrina and the devastation of his hometown of New Orleans, LA. Daniel's goal for this new album was to write songs that don't necessarily focus on the sadness and loss caused by Katrina, but on the good memories, and celebration of his hometown and its everlasting spirit. Songs on the album like "Lost & Found," "Automatic," and "Bombastic" are high-energy songs about fond memories and good times. Naturally, there is a song that deals directly with the hurricane, called "Cast Away". This thought provoking ballad is a true reflection of the emotion and the initial sorrow that the citizens of New Orleans felt from the things they went through.Shortly after the hurricane Daniel relocated to the Philadelphia area to work on his album. While Daniel was in the process of writing for the album in January 2008 his new home burned to the ground due to an electrical fire. While no one was hurt, this second event just made Daniel work harder then ever on this album and inspired the title of the record "Invictus," (Latin for unconquerable) the theme behind this record. As then end of the album process began tragedy struck as Daniel experienced the loss of two of his uncles on separate occasions weeks apart and then the loss of his hero-his Grandmother on his birthday in June of 2008 and has dedicated the album to her. This album is meant to be an inspiration for everyone, with a bold statement that shouts loud and clear that "No matter what you are going through, never give up and never surrender." By everything that Daniel has gone through this truly is a statement that he can stand behind.
