Debbie has been an Anti-Bullying and Conflict Resolution Specialist since , a professional storyteller since , and a certified K- teacher since . She is applying to be a guidance-type teacher or character education coach at an elementary school, a middle school, or part time in both. She can work either in an assigned classroom, or you can provide her with a rolling cart to travel from room to room. Because so many of the benchmarks and standards for health education and guidance counseling overlap, possible titles for the class could be Character Education or Guidance and Health. From to , Debbie taught a guidance-type class called Communication Skills at Clinton Middle School in Anderson County Schools, TN. She worked with about th, th, and th graders each year. Utilizing her book called " C's Character Education, Conflict Resolution, Communication Skills," she taught these students anti-bullying, conflict resolution, character education, and public speaking. She did this through carefully crafted (mostly original) stories, role plays, and discussion questions. Unfortunately, a system-wide budget cut eliminated many special programs, including her dream job. Along with the guidance counselor, she co-coordinated the Peer Mediation program. Debbie crafted the script used in the Peer Mediation sessions and helped train the student Peer Mediators. She would be happy to help coordinate a Peer Mediation program at your school as well. As the School Conflict Resolution Examiner at the national level for Examiner.com (since ), she has continued to create C's lesson plans for grades K-, -, and -. So, not only can she teach a guidance-type class at your school, she is already in the process of completing and polishing a guidance curriculum that aligns with the Tennessee benchmarks and standards for guidance counseling and health education Standard "Emotional, Social, and Mental Health."
