A native New Yorker playing video games, designing BBS boards and gopher sites prior to the Web going world wide. As an early adopter and one of the few women of color web designers in the early 's, I've been involved with tech and social networks for over years. My experience includes consultant and speaker in tech, media, politics and diversity. In addition I founded Digital SistersSistas Inc. and a web multimedia management firm (MHG). My recent project is Tech Media Swirl engaging in diverse online strategies. In some of my more interesting roles I was the manager for Politically Black.com a site that was sold to Netivation and ended at Politics.com. I created the game TechnoDemic, a multimedia competition to help youth learn technology and programming terms. As an organizer I arrange andor on the planning committee for various tech events including the Digital Community, Techno Rodeo, Feminism ., She's Geek DC, Geeky Girls Night Out, Nonprofit ., Computers, Freedom and Privacy, Gov Expo, and a few others. I provide training on topics that include social media strategies with an expertise in reaching diverse populations on issues including, broadband access, women in tech, apps design, across the country and more. Media engagement includes WETA, KPFA, NPR Grit TV. I've presented on various topics including Tweet This Change, Social Media ROI, Social Media WOC Google Apps for Nonprofits. As an author I've written Gaining Daily Access to Science and Technology in the book Ways to Improve Womens Lives and Access to Technology Race, Gender, and Class Bias. I've been named one of the Fast Company's The Most Influential Women in Technology, DC Tech Titan, DC's Top Ten most influential in Social Media, The Root African-American Leaders of Excellence and GovFresh's Women in Government Tech. I've been awarded the Social Citizen Apps for Democracy DC, Rising Star Woman of Color in Technology, and Heroine in Tech Specialties technology integration, diversity, media, digital transitions, women and technology, economic sufficiency, old vs new technology, Internet, broadband initiatives, digital inclusion, Web ., culture and technology, and political technology.
