Most people dont have a problem telling me their problems. - Eric B. Horn On September , the world welcomed Eric Brandon Horn. Erics parents lived off th and Clyde but soon moved further south so that his mother, father, and older brother could have more room to grow. Eric attended De La Salle Institute, which is down the street from US Cellular Field (home of the beloved Chicago White Sox), and later enrolled at Chicago State University to receive his degree in Management Information Systems. Shortly after college, Eric joined the Information Technology team at an international collection agency and held numerous positions ranging from PC Technician to IT Project Manager. When the market crashed, Eric was just one of the many casualties of a massive downsizing that put him in a scary position of not knowing where his next paycheck will come from. Jobless but not hopeless, Eric learned an invaluable lesson and vowed NEVER be behind the jobless eight ball again. In order for Eric to cope with being downsized, he started to coach himself on small but critical professional development strategies such as making sure his network was strong, having an emergency fund, and always having an updated resume which was critical in moving forward in his career. Little did Eric know that this coping mechanism was leading him to discover the gift of personal and professional development. I do recognize that my knowledge of professional development is a gift from God. Strangely enough, I use to neglect this gift for so long. I had so many great ideas I didn't know where to begin Thus in , ericbhorn.com (Professional Development Blog) and Eric B. Horn, Inc. (Professional Development Company) was founded to give people an oasis of professional development ideas and strategies in a way thats easy to receive and retain.
