Karl Geiger is a business technology expert with nearly years in academia, industry, and consulting. Karl joined CURE Pharmaceutical in November . CURE's mission is to ensure the supply of needed medications to underserved people in developed and developing markets. He also advises InClinical on their clinical trials management platform. Karl founded Convergent Informatics, Inc., with three Amgen colleagues in . His customers included biotech companies such as Kythera Biopharmaceuticals, eCommerce businesses, and other start-up businesses along the corridor in Ventura and Los Angeles Counties. He also worked with the local venture and business communities such as Maverick Angels and The BioTech Forum, reviewing pitches and coaching entrepreneurs. As Director of Enterprise Architecture at Amgen, Inc., his teams designed and documented several enterprise-class information systems including Amgen's ERP system infrastructure. He also designed and developed key systems in Clinical Development and the Amgen Libraries. Prior to Amgen, Karl was a manager and technical liaison between the University of Southern California's Information Systems and Library divisions through the Leavey Library. His applications advanced knowledge management, enabled information retrieval, and expanded the University's catalog systems. Karl began his career at USC in the early s working on large-scale IBM mainframe platforms and Internet precursors such as BITnet. When not digging into business systems issues, Karl is program director and treasurer for the IEEE Buenaventura Section Computer Society and occasional guest lecturer at California Lutheran University. Any of his remaining time is spent supporting the national champion Moorpark High School Academic Decathlon team, on which his three children have competed. He especially enjoys coaching the students for the Interview portion of the competition.
