From 2000 to 2011 I taught American history at the St. Anne's - Belfield School in Charlottesville, Virginia. I also have extensive experience working with history teachers on the development of a wide range of skills related to the integration of technology and primary sources into the classroom. In addition to teaching I have written extensively about the Civil War era and recently completed my first book, which will be published next spring by the University Press of Kentucky. I am currently researching the history of the 55th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry.
