It means "The Beloved." I like the name but I go by "Dave" mostly because my father's name is "David." When I was growing up, I went by "Davey" but that sounds like a kids name now. However, some of the people that knew me when I was a kid still call me "Davey." You can call me "Dave"   I am also gay. Now, I normally don't come right out and say things like this and am not sure why I am now. I believe that sexuality is much like religion and politics - never discuss in mixed company. I respect other's beliefs and opinions regarding all of these things but would also feel, I guess, that neglecting to share what my beliefs are would be neglecting to tell you who I am. Therefore, I am a agnostic liberal homosexual. Apparently I'm also a stereotype.
