I am a software developer with Cray Inc, a high performance computing systems and storage company. I was recruited to help add GPU support to the companys core product, an important factor in helping programmers understand the performance of the application and meet critical goals. I joined the company as an intern, initially for just months, and was hired on a full-time basis immediately after the internship ended. Prior to joining Cray I was studying for my BS and MS in Computer Science at Portland University, during which time I worked as a Computer Science Tutor, researcher and grader with the university. As a tutor I greatly enjoyed helping students who were struggling with subjects such as object-oriented design, algorithms, and debugging. I also enjoy my work with Cray because it allows me to use one of my greatest skills the ability to solve problems. Im particularly adept at quickly learning new technologies, software or approaches and then applying what Ive learned to address a business problem. I firmly believe that technology should serve business rather than the other way round and I enjoy collaborating as part of a team to make that happen. My prior experience includes stints in sales and operations, and it is this rounded background that allows me to truly understand business problems and goals in a way many developers may not. I also spent time in the United State military, both with the US Navy and the Oregon Air National Guard. When Im not working, my passions include camping, hiking, working out at the gym, aikido and reading. I hold a BS and MS in Computer Science.
