Michael Kirby is currently pursuing a Master of Arts degree in economics at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Prior to attending UCSB, he completed a Bachelor of Arts degree at Elmira College with a double major in economics and business administration. In addition to the double major at Elmira College, he specialized in mathematics and accounting. During his years at EC, he played on the NCAA division mens ice hockey team, making NCAA All-Academic teams, winning regular season titles, making NCAA tournament appearances, and winning ECAC West championship. At the beginning of his third year at Elmira, he was nominated and then selected to be on the colleges Finance Board, which is in charge of allocating the , student activity fund to various clubs and events on campus. Going into his senior year, he was elected as the vice-president of Finance Board, which came with numerous other responsibilities, such as budgeting, explaining to the student body how the fund was allocated, and being a member of the Student Association Executive Committee. Furthermore, he was selected to be a member of three honor societies Omicron Delta Epsilon, Omicron Delta Kappa, and Pi Mu Epsilon.
