Sylvia worked in the business field for about forty years where she obtained business management experience and communication skills. She also worked in social work for Children’s Services; she was resident housemother in a group home run by the Stirlingshire County Council in Scotland.  A few years ago Sylvia was forced to retire early; due to ill health. Rather than sit at home feeling sorry for herself, Sylvia decided to take a correspondence course in freelance writing.  Besides working as a freelance writer, Sylvia still finds time for two other passions of hers; which are to volunteer as a literacy tutor for her local Learning Centre, where she teaches young adults how to read, and assists in facilitating at workshops on disability awareness.  Recently, Sylvia co-authored a book about living with chronic illness.
