Scott R. Thomas was elected in November of 2009 to his first term on the Pottsville Area School Board. In addition to serving on the school board, Scott is also an elected member of the Republican State Committee of Pennsylvania, being the youngest to hold the office.Prior to running for office in 2008 at the age of 18, Scott has been active in politics for quite sometime. Beginning in 2005, Scott decided to establish the Pottsville Teenage Republicans, which would grow to become the Schuylkill County Teenage Republicans. Today, he is currently the Chairman of the Schuylkill County Young Republicans and serves on the Pennsylvania Young Republicans Board of DirectorsAside from politics, Scott is active within his community by volunteering at three local nursing homes since he was 6 years old. In 2005, Scott was chosen as "Volunteer of the Year" at Manor Care Nursing Home, Pottsville. , He is also an active member of his church, Trinity Lutheran Church, Pottsville, where he is the Superintendent of the Sunday School Program..Scott is a 2008 graduate of Pottsville Area High School and is currently attending Lehigh Carbon Community College to major in Political Science.
