Mary Deming Barber is president of The Barber Group, a strategic communications consultancy in Anchorage, Alaska. She specializes in communicating to various target audiences, especially Alaskans, and has experience in the nonprofit, community foundation, tourism and food industry sectors. Prior to coming to Alaska in , Mary handled public relations and marketing for a variety of food organizations and coordinated the volunteer efforts for a successful US Senate campaign. Mary is active both nationally and in Alaska in the ,-member Public Relations Society of America and also held national leadership positions with the Ad Division of the American Advertising Federation and the International Foodservice Editorial Council. She's also active with the Whitman College Alumni group, in the United Way of Anchorage and has done work with the Alaska Botanical Garden and YWCA.
