I teach theology and ethics at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. My research focuses on new technologies and their potential for human enhancement. My most recent book is Transhumanism and Transcendence Christian Hope in an Age of Technological Enhancement, from Georgetown University Press. My previous books include Design and Destiny Jewish and Christian Perspectives on Human Germline Modification (edited, published March by MIT Press). I see these developments in technology as posing new questions not just for theology but for all human beings what does it mean to be human, and how far will we go in modifying our humanity
